2022 was an amazing and busy year for travelers all over the world. 2020 brought many changes to our lives but having traveled to Italy three times during that period, we were impressed with how businesses are still concerned with customer's health and safety. It became even more evident how important collaboration and cooperation are for all communities, large, small, domestic and international. Humanity is learning more about itself, individually as well as collectively. We are seeing the fundamental changes to ways in which we relate. Change can be difficult or we can embrace it for more ease and comfort. Italian Excursion believes travel has always been a modality for change and understanding between cultures. We at Italian Excursion look forward to being the change we seek for more acceptance, more cooperation in the world. We hope you will be inspired to join us on one of our excursions.

Italian Excursion has always been supportive of safe, comfortable travel and will offer nothing less as we go forward. A large part of our mission has been to support local, artisan communities who are what we deem "small producers" in their particular industry. These are standards that will not change for us. We will however, modify our tours to ensure that guests feel secure in joining us on our adventures. There are new dates for 2023 on our "Tours" page. Cheryl's trip to Umbria in September & October 2021 allowed her to experience what it is like to travel in Italy during pandemic times. Covid-19 testing is no longer required to enter countries and it seems that unless one is vulnerable, health-wise, masks are seen less and less. (However, in my own travel I still wear a mask both in the airport and on the planes and am happy to report I've stayed healthy). Would you like to wander in undiscovered Italian hill towns, study Italian cooking with an expert, visit an organic goat cheese farm, eat an authentic meal with an Italian family , harvest grapes or just wine taste, hone your artistic skills, or spend time wandering in some of Italy’s hidden gardens? Old World Italy! A time when life was a bit simpler, a lot slower and so full of promise. Do you have visions of lush, green countryside, dotted with wildflowers, vineyards and olive trees? Can you imagine the special varietals of wines paired with delightful dishes made with just- picked freshness? Italian Excursion will escort you for a week or more to the Italian countryside, off the beaten path in comfort and style. You will visit hidden iconic jewels of Italy in out of the way destinations, unique in character and atmosphere. Old World Italian life is still available when you leave the hustle and bustle of the city. It is common knowledge that travel educates the mind and soul. The cultural heritage of Italy is centuries old because it is interesting, steeped in history and just plain beautiful. See our photo gallery for some stunning photos of past tours. Cheryl Alexander has been traveling to Europe, particularly Italy, for more than 20 years . Her interest in Italy, its rich history, art and culture led her to purchase property near Orvieto, allowing her to spend more time there. Cheryl’s explorations of Italy include the regions of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio, as well as the Casentino (in less traveled Tuscany) and southeast to Puglia and Basilicata. Her numerous trips to Italy have resulted in many friendships with local artisans specializing in the traditions handed down to them for generations and who are generous in sharing the region’s hidden treasures with her. She continues to explore Italy's less traveled regions, and enjoys sharing her discoveries with others.
